Heyo folks,
The first Update for Strike the Light is here!
It's a step towards refining the overall experience of the Game, including visually updated Screens for the Intro Sequence, adjustments to the UI, additions to the dialogue and more.
But for the sake of availability, I kept the initial release version 0.1 (what was achieved during the GameJam) as an additional Download option.
Be sure to see and test all of it in-game yourself!
// VISUALS
Intro
- More details and shading to the environmental parts of the backgrounds (here's and example).
Mid-game
- When you uncover Fenya's Wound, there's now visual Blood on the side of her head.
- When Fenya first opens her eyes, she actually does so now :3
UI
- All UI-elements previously in a default-blue are now in a uniform red, to fit the game's palette.
// INTERFACE
- Basic Save/Load functions have been re-enabled, since my attempt to rid of them didn't work as intended. And saving is always nice :)
- The in-game Quickmenu was aligned bottom-right for a clearer image.
- The dialogue Choice-menu was moved down to the position of the textbox. Interacting with it is much more comfortable this way.
- Addition of a basic "Click to Continue" notification in the textbox, appearing 5sec after the text has finished typing. A mere item of convenience.
// DIALOGUE
I'll keep this as spoil-free as necessary, so you can experience it yourself ;)
- A few additional parts of dialogue and rewording of some existing to make the conversation feel more natural.
- At a later stage, when you're able to interact with the Flare Gun, reversing options with the pristine Cartridge were removed due to redundancy (and causing a weird plot inconsistency, where you were able to load the damaged one, even if you haven't searched for it. Thanks to BadMustard for pointing this out!).
// MISC
- There's now a proper, general End screen after the end of a branch has been reached.
- Removed some unused placeholder and save files.
- Lowered the default volumes of Music and Soundeffects.
- Some general Code-cleaning.
